Officer Wilbur Eugene McGee joined the Las Vegas Police Department on June 22, 1954. On November 11, 1955, a burglary was committed in the early morning hours, and the suspect was found in a hotel room. Officer McGee ran to the room and placed the suspect under arrest. The suspect surrendered a pellet gun, but as Officer McGee started to handcuff the burglar, he pulled a second gun from his waistband and shot Officer McGee. Officer McGee was 33.
