Doing Business with LVMPD

LVMPD welcomes qualified suppliers and contractors interested in providing goods and services to the department. The Purchasing Unit coordinates procurement activities and works to promote fair and open competition.

Bid Opportunities and Supplier Registration

LVMPD posts formal bid opportunities through the Nevada Government eMarketplace (NGEM). Suppliers can register at no cost to view bid information, submit electronic responses and receive notifications based on their selected commodity codes.

To find bid tabulations and award documents, visit NGEM and select Bid Events, then Closed Bids.

Purchasing Methods

LVMPD uses formal and informal purchasing methods based on the value and requirements of each purchase.

Formal Purchases

Purchases valued at more than $100,000 generally follow a formal competitive bidding process. Formal bids are opened publicly after the submission deadline stated in the bid documents. Contract awards are made by the sheriff or an authorized designee and formalized by resolution.

Informal Purchases

Purchases valued at $100,000 or less generally follow an informal quotation process. Written quotations are required for purchases valued at more than $50,000 and up to $100,000. Informal purchases are awarded through the issuance of an LVMPD purchase order.

Different requirements may apply when federal funding is used. Suppliers should review the applicable solicitation documents for the requirements of each opportunity.

LVMPD Surplus Property

LVMPD sells certain surplus property through Public Surplus. A Public Surplus account is required to submit an online bid.

State of Nevada Emerging Small Business (ESB) Program

The Nevada Emerging Small Business certification program helps eligible Nevada small businesses pursue contracting opportunities with state and local government agencies. The program is administered by the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development.
