Forensic Genetic Genealogy (FGG) has revolutionized how law enforcement solves cold cases and identifies missing persons. With your help, we can bring justice to more victims and closure to their families.

Here’s how you can contribute: Take a Direct-to-Consumer DNA Test. To get started, you’ll need a genetic profile. Here’s how you can obtain yours:

1.) Choose a DNA testing service

Purchase a kit from one of the following companies:

Ancestry.com
23andMe.com
FamilyTreeDNA.com
MyHeritage.com
- Follow the instructions: Once you receive your kit, provide a saliva sample and mail it back for analysis.

OR, if you aren’t interested in having your DNA in a public genealogical database:

Use Othram’s Swab Collection Kit*
- Follow the instructions: Once you receive your kit, provide a saliva sample and mail it back for analysis.
  - *This swab kit allows people who have not previously tested with a DNA testing company to contribute their DNA profiles to Othram's DNASolves database. This is not a recreational ancestry or genealogy test. The only reason to participate is to help solve an unsolved case.

2.) Upload Your DNA to a Law Enforcement Accessible Databases

Once you have your DNA results, upload your raw data to databases allowing law enforcement access and use it for investigations.

Download your raw DNA file: From your testing company’s website, follow the instructions to download your raw genetic data file.
Upload to these databases:
- DNAsolves.com Upload your data here to assist in solving criminal cases and identifying missing persons.
- FamilyTreeDNA.com You’ll need to” OPT IN” to the law enforcement database to help with investigations.
- GEDmatch.com Make sure to “OPT IN” for law enforcement access during the upload process.
