About the COPS Office and CNA
The Center for Naval Analyses (CNA) served as an independent third-party reviewer under a cooperative agreement managed by the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office).
CNA has conducted independent reviews for law enforcement agencies across the country. For LVMPD, CNA evaluated five areas:
- Policy
- Procedures
- Training
- Tactics
- Community engagement
CNA collected data, conducted interviews, and performed on-site visits with LVMPD employees and community members. Based on its findings, CNA issued recommendations to help improve department policies, practices, and training.
