In-Custody Deaths
LVMPD is committed to transparency and accountability. This page provides information about in-custody death incidents involving LVMPD employees.
After the Critical Incident Review Process (CIRP) and the Police Fatality Public Fact Finding Review (PFPFFR) have been completed, the following materials may be available for each incident:
District Attorney (DA) Decision Letter: When available, LVMPD posts the District Attorney's decision letter in full on the Office of Internal Oversight webpage.
Force Investigation Team (FIT) Report: Summarizes the evidence collected during the homicide investigation. Reports are released with confidential information removed or redacted as required by law.
Office of Internal Oversight (OIO) Review: Provides the department's review of the incident, including findings, conclusions, and any changes to policy, procedures, tactics, or training that resulted from the Critical Incident Review Process.
The first in-custody death incident for which both the CIRP and PFPFFR were completed occurred in 2017.
If a report or video is not available for a listed incident, the link will display "N/A" (Not Available).
