Overview

LVMPD is committed to transparency and accountability in the use of deadly force by its officers. This page explains how the department reports and releases information related to officer-involved uses of deadly force that do not result in death.

When Reports Are Released

In some incidents, related criminal charges may still be pending. To avoid interfering with the judicial process, LVMPD may delay releasing reports until it is determined that publication will not impact an active case.

Reports are published once they become public records and are available through the Office of Internal Oversight (OIO).

Because of this, reports may not be listed in chronological order.

Available Reports

LVMPD releases the following reports for each incident:

  • Force Investigation Team (FIT) Report
Includes evidence collected by investigators. Reports are released in full, with confidential information redacted.
  • Office of Internal Oversight (OIO) Review
Provides an internal review of the incident, including findings, conclusions, and any changes to policy, training, or procedures.

Video Releases

LVMPD began publishing videos related to use-of-force incidents in 2013. When available, these videos are included to provide additional context and transparency.
