Victim: Jeffrey "NEZ" Neslund, 33 YOA

Location: Desert area one mile North of State Route 147 (Lake Mead Blvd.) at mile marker 38 ½.
Date: Body discovered October 29, 1999

Synopsis:
On October 29, 1999, Jeffrey Neslund, known as "Nes" by his friends, was found shot to death by people four-wheeling in the desert. The investigation revealed that Jeffrey had been dead for a couple of days prior to his discovery. Jeff was last seen driving a late 1990's red Corvette. The Corvette was recovered in the 6800 block of East Lake Mead Blvd. An autopsy determined that Jeffrey Neslund died as the result of gunshot wounds.

Victim: Ulysses Shiyreco Thomas, 36 YOA
Suspect #1: White or Light skinned Hispanic male, late teens – early 20's, 5'8" – 5'10", short dark hair & goatee, medium build Large tattoo on upper left arm.
Suspect #2: White or Light skinned Hispanic male, late teens – early 20's, 5'8" – 5'10", 145 – 160 pounds, short dark hair.
Location: 903 N Pecos, Las Vegas, NV 89110 – 7-Eleven parking lot.
Date: October 26, 1999

Synopsis:
On Tuesday, October 26, 1999, Ulysses Thomas was shot in the back while he was talking on the phone outside of the 7-Eleven, at 903 Pecos. The suspects were last seen running West behind the 7-Eleven into the Palm Village Apartment Complex. Ulysses stumbled into the store, stating he had been shot. Ulysses was transported to UMC-Trauma Center, he was taken into surgery. Ulysses was transferred to Intensive Care, after surgery, were he succumbed to his wounds.

Victim: Richard L. Robinson, 56 YOA
Suspect: Hispanic male, late teens/early 20's, 5'9", 180 pounds
Suspect vehicle: Late model, full size Chevrolet pick-up, extended cab, two-tone paint primary color – red, custom wheels, bed liner, and running boards with lights below the truck's doors.
Location: Silverton Casino parking lot 3333 Blue Diamond Rd., Las Vegas, NV
Date: June 5, 1999

Synopsis:
Richard Robinson pulled his 1995 Chevrolet pick-up into the South lot of the Silverton Casino. As he was in the process of exiting his vehicle, he was approached by the suspect who demanded Robinson's vehicle at gunpoint Apparently something went wrong and the suspect shot Robinson once. Robinson was transported to the University Medical Center — Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses saw the suspect run through the parking lot and jump into the suspect vehicle which was driven by an unknown person.

Suspect: Hispanic Male, 21 to 30 yrs. Believed to use the name Armando Ollos
Location: Duffy's III Tavern at 3085 S. Nellis Blvd, Las Vegas, NV, 89121
Date: 3-12-1999 Approximately 3:30 pm

Synopsis:
On 3-12-99 a Hispanic male approximately 21 to 30 years old entered Duffy's III Tavern on Nellis Blvd. and producing a handgun, demanded money. Gregory Brewer who was assisting at the tavern in providing check cashing services, exchanged gunfire with the suspect. The suspect was last seen fleeing in a maroon/red Ford Thunderbird. The vehicle was later found and processed by the LVMPD.

Location: 4620 Glen Davis Drive
Date: 9-6-1998

Synopsis:
On 9-6-98 at approximately 1:37am Clark County Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4620 Glen Davis Drive. After entering the residence Fire Department personnel discovered the bodies of two white females. The victims showed obvious trauma which was not consistent with the fire. It appeared the victims were murdered in their home and then the house was set on fire in an attempt to cover the crime. The victims were mother and daughter.

Victim: Gary Wayne Hayse, 30 YOA

Location: 1700 N Gateway, Las Vegas, NV Bramblewood Mobile Home Park (Desert area)
Date: July 23, 1998

Synopsis:
At approximately 7:30 p.m., on July 23, 1998, the body of an unidentified male was discovered in the desert area, east of the Bramblewood Mobile Home Park, by a resident of the park. Homicide investigators responded and determined the victim had been beaten. The subsequent autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma. The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Gary Wayne Hayse. There were no witnesses ever located and no one has ever come forward with an explanation as to what may have led to Gary's death.

Victim: Vela Lindner, 76 YOA
Suspect: Unknown
Location: 6121 Glendale Circle, Las Vegas, NV
Date: 6/30/1998

Synopsis:
Vela Lindner, who had been living at a rehabilitation center for two months, returned to her home, 6121 Glendale Circle, on June 29, 1998. Family and friends spoke with Vela several times during the day on June 30, the last call at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A neighbor knocked on the door at 8:00 p.m. and became concerned when Vela did not answer. The neighbor called Vela's family who came to the residence with a key. The family member and the neighbor entered the residence and discovered Vela on the bedroom floor. It was determined that the suspect broke into the house through a bedroom window and encountered Vela, there were signs of a struggle in the master bedroom where Vela was found deceased. The official cause of death was manual strangulation.

Suspect Vehicle: Dark Blue Low Rider with Chrome Rims.
Location: corner of Ogden and Cervantes(Downtown Las Vegas)
Date: 06/21/98

Synopsis:
On 06/21/98, at 2130 hours, Vernon Todd was riding his bike in the area of Cervantes and Ogden. Neighbors in that neighborhood heard gun shots then dialed 911. Arriving officers found the lying in a driveway and suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Vernon Todd was pronounced dead at the scene.

Location: Blue Diamond Road near Decatur Blvd.
Date of Occurrence: 04/21/98

Synopsis:
On 04-21-98, Shauna Maynard was located at the intersection of Blue Diamond Rd. and Decatur Blvd in the early morning hours by citizens, and upon investigation, it was discovered that Shauna Maynard had been shot several times and dumped on the roadway. Shauna was 17 years old at the time of her murder. She was a white female, 5'4", 150 Lbs, having red hair, and brown eyes.

Victim: John Edward Harris, 55 YOA
Suspect: Unknown
Location: 2900 El Camino Ave. (parking lot; Sahara Palms Apts.) Las Vegas, NV
Date: March 21, 1998

Synopsis:
John Harris, a cab driver for Vegas Western Cab Co., picked up a fare at Arizona Charlie's Casino, 740 S. Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, NV at approximately 2:58 a.m. According to the cab "trip sheet", Harris drove the fare to the Fountains at Smoke Ranch apartment complex on Rock Springs Dr. This was the last known contact anyone had with John Harris. At approximately 6:47 a.m., Harris was found inside of his cab, which was still running, in the parking lot of the Sahara Palms Apartments. There were signs of a struggle prior to Harris being shot. Based on the evidence it appeared that Harris had also been robbed.

Victim: Cynthia Elaine Oquist
Suspect: White male, late 30's, 5 ft 9 inches, medium build, dark hair, brown eyes
Location: Desert area Southeast of Vegas Valley Blvd. and the Las Vegas Wash
Date: Of discovery – February 6, 1998

Synopsis:
Cynthia Oquist's body was found by a homeless person who was living in the area. He went to a nearby convenience store where he located a LVMPD patrol officer and reported his discovery. Investigators arrived and began their investigation. It appeared that Cynthia had been left in the area for three to five days. She was initially unidentified but identification was made by fingerprints at the time of the autopsy. The medical examiner, at autopsy, determined the cause of death to be from blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Investigators learned that Cynthia was last seen in the downtown Las Vegas area working as a prostitute.

The suspect composite was provided by another prostitute who was the victim of an attempt murder. Investigators believe the suspect may be responsible for the murder of Cynthia.

Location: 3.3 mile marker, North Shore Rd., Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Date: November 27, 1997

Synopsis:
At approximately 6:18 a.m., Thanksgiving morning, 1997, the body of Francis James McDonough was found by maintenance workers for the National Park Service. Francis was dumped into the desert area, just off the roadway. Francis had been shot and his naked body was bound. It was apparent that the killing had occurred at a different location. The actual crime scene has never been located. Francis had borrowed a friend’s car which was located in the area of Hollywood and Lake Mead Blvd., The body recovery and car recovery were several miles apart.

Location: 4420 Shalimar Ave.
Date: 10/15/1997

Synopsis:
On October 15, 1997, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Viola was found deceased at her residence by a friend. Investigators determined that Viola, who lived alone with her dogs, died from multiple stab wounds. Apparently Viola arrived home from the store and carried in several items. She never returned to her car for the rest of her purchases. Investigators believe that the suspect(s) were in her home when she arrived. Though there were no signs of a break-in, a number of items of value appeared to be missing or disturbed. There are no known witnesses and all leads have been exhausted.

Location: 3315 S. Mountain Bluebird, Las Vegas, NV 89117
Date: 10-02-1997

Synopsis:
On 10-02-1997 the victim who was employed by Lewis Homes was checking a model home in the 3300 block of S. Mountain Bluebird. He parked his pickup truck leaving the keys in the ignition, as he returned to his truck after only a few minutes absence, he observed a male suspect driving away in his truck. A witness observed the victim running behind the truck and finally grabbing the driver's outside mirror. The suspect continued to speed away in the truck and the victim lost his grasp of the mirror and fell beneath the wheels of the truck. The suspect drove over the victim, causing fatal injuries to the victim. The suspect abandoned the stolen truck a short time later at 9901 West Sahara. The suspect was never identified.

Location: U.S 95 (Westbound) near Las Vegas Boulvard
Date: 9-7-1997

Synopsis:
At approximately 1:00 a.m., on September 7, 1997, Ronald Sanchez was driving his sister's 1996 White Plymouth Neon on U.S 95. Ronald and a friend, who was in the front passenger seat, had just entered U.S. 95 at Eastern Ave. driving westbound. Another friend and Ronald's 14 year old brother were in a second vehicle traveling to the same location. Somewhere in the area, just before the Las Vegas Boulevard exit, they heard gunshots. Ronald sped up while the passengers ducked. Ronald was hit once in the back and started to loose consciousness. The friend took the wheel and using a hand to apply the brake was able to pull the car to the side of the road at the on-ramp to Interstate 15 (Northbound). Ronald was transported to the University Medical Center-Trauma Unit where he died from his wound. No one saw the person(s) responsible.

Date: 07/03/1997

Synopsis:
On July 3, 1997, at or about 0618 hours, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a 911 call regarding gunshots coming from the area of 2315 Sandy Lane. Upon their arrival they observed Malcolm Marshall laying in his front yard suffering from life threatening injuries. Malcolm Marshall was transported to University Medical Center and was subsequently pronounced deceased by the attending trauma physician. Malcolm Marshall was 43 years of age at the time of his murder.

Location: 557 Sierra Vista
Date: 5/1/1997

Synopsis:
On May 1, 1997, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Cristina was found deceased lying on the ground in the parking lot to the rear of the apartment complex at 557 Sierra Vista. Cristina's identity was initially unknown, as she was visiting Las Vegas from Florida. When she failed to return home her family contacted the Clark County Coroner's Office. It was determined she was staying at the Circus-Circus Hotel and was last seen by friends getting on a CAT bus. Investigators determined she arrived at the Monte Carlo and New York New York Casinos where she played mini-baccarat until 11:30 p.m. Her activities and whereabouts after leaving the casinos is still unknown.

Victim: Wendy Marie Bjurstrom, 27 YOA

Location: 900 W. Bonanza, #305 (Moulin Rouge Hotel) Las Vegas, NV
Date: March 14, 1997

Synopsis:
On March 13, 1997, Wendy Bjurstrom was found unresponsive in her bed by a friend. The friend ran to the manager's office where emergency medical personnel and police where called. The responding patrol officers determined that Wendy was dead. Officers requested detectives. The initial investigators believed foul play was involved in the death and requested homicide investigators. The results of the autopsy revealed Wendy had died from strangulation. The person(s) responsible and/or the reason behind Wendy's murder are still unknown.

Suspect: Black male adult, 5'10-5'11, Last seen with; braided hair and wearing baggy blue jacket.
Location: 1320 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV
Date: 12/30/1996

Synopsis:
An unidentified female came to the victim's door and asked for him. During the encounter with the female the suspect appeared in the doorway with a handgun. Finister pushed the suspect out of the door and put his shoulder to the door, in an effort to close and lock the door. The suspect fired through the door hitting the victim in the head.

Location: Mile Marker #41, East Lake Mead Rd, Las Vegas, NV
Date: Victim Found on 11-2-1996

Synopsis:
Michael Rainey was last seen on 8-20-96 and on 11-2-96 a man walking his dogs observed the skeletal remains of a human in a wash area near mile marker 41 on East Lake Mead Rd. Through dental records the victim was identified as the missing male juvenile Michael Rainey. Through evidence at the location of the skeletal remains, it was determined that the victim was murdered.

Suspect: Two, young Latin males. One 5'6", small build. One 6', larger build.

Location: 4423 Honeycomb Dr., Las Vegas, NV

Date: July 28, 1996

Synopsis:
The suspects came to the door at 2:00 a.m.. Ultimately, the victim was summoned to the door where he engaged the suspects in conversation just at the front door. Shots then rang out & the suspects were seen to flee in a vehicle described as a late 70s to early 80s white Chevy van. Subsequent investigation suggests the parties were involved in some illicit diversion of an electronic store’s inventory; with the victim failing to deliver.

Victim: Duane Ewers, 69 YOA
Suspect: White male, 27 to 30 years old, well built, 6' 1", 180 pounds
Location: North Loop Trail, Mount Charleston (10,000 ft level)
Date: 7/21/1996

Synopsis:
Duane Ewers, a retired anesthesiologist from Southern California and avid hiker, traveled to Mount Charleston to hike to the summit with the suspect. Ewers and the suspect were seen hiking the trail after dark. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots at approximately 1:00 a.m. Several people saw the suspect before and after the murder. The suspect tried to drag Ewers into the wooded area near the trail, because of the loose footing the suspect abandoned his efforts and fled. Ewers vehicle was reported missing from the parking area at the trail head. The vehicle was recovered several months later in the parking garage at the Treasure Island Hotel.

None of Ewers' family or friends knew who he was with during this outing. The attached drawing is a composite made from witness descriptions.

Suspect: Two Black Male Adults (Unknown Identities)
Location: 7-11 Convenience Store at Bonanza and Pecos. 3501 E. Bonanza, Las Vegas, NV
Date: 2-14-1996

Synopsis:
On 2-14-96 at approximately 0045 hours two black males disguised in women's clothing entered the 7-11 convenience store at Pecos and Bonanza and robbed the store. The suspects both displayed handguns, with suspect #1 brandishing a long gun which when described would be consistent with the size and shape of a 9mm gun known as a Tec-9. Suspect #2 also was in possession of a handgun. The victim, Sarah Keyenejad was sitting on one of the slot machine stools having a conversation with the store clerk when the suspects entered the store. As suspect #1 exited the store, he turned with no warning and fired one shot at the victim. The bullet killed her and the approximately 6 month old male fetus she was carrying.

Location: Lake Shore Dr. (10.5 Mile Marker), Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Date: November 20, 1995

Synopsis:
At approximately 3:30 p.m., on November 20, 1995, a couple hiking through the desert near Lake Mead discovered the body of Benjamin Parker. The couple drove to the Henderson Police Department and reported their discovery. The subsequent investigation revealed that Benjamin was last seen at a friend's residence on November 18. Interviews with Parker's wife and friends indicated that he may have been mixed up with street gangs and drugs. The evidence indicates he was shot and killed at location where he was discovered.

Location: Silver State Recycling, 333 W. Gowan
Date: September 19, 1995

Synopsis:
On 9-19-1995, employees of the Silver State Recycling plant on West Gowan Rd., North Las Vegas, discovered the dismembered torso of the victim. Upon discover, all operations at the center were stopped pending arrival of law enforcement personnel. A subsequent search of the debris uncovered the victim's head and legs. The remains came to center y commercial recycling trucks from the area bordered by East Flamingo, South Eastern, South Maryland Parkway, and Sunset. The victim still is unidentified. Location: Lake Mead National Recreation Area, approximately 1/4 mile southeast of Hemenway Launch, floating face down approximately 15 feet from shoreline in Lake Mead.
Date: 8-4-1995

Synopsis:
On 8-4-95 the decomposing body of a young white male was observed floating face down in Lake Mead. The body was later identified as Darius Kavalyauskas, a 24 year old Lithuanian immigrant. The coroner declared the death to be by asphyxia due to forced drowning.

Victim: Christopher Scott Huffman,

Location: Las Vegas Boat Harbor at Lake Mead NRA
Date:  August 16, 1994

Synopsis:
On 8-16-94, in the early morning hours, fishermen near the Las Vegas Boat Harbor discovered a metal trash can floating in the lake. Upon closer inspection, they discovered it was attached to a human body. The fishermen notified law enforcement.

Upon arrival of homicide detectives, it was determined the victim, later identified as 34-year-old Christopher Scott Huffman, died from multiple gunshot wounds. It’s believed Huffman died shortly before he was discovered in the lake.

Location: 3515 Alto, Las Vegas, NV
Date: 4/16/1994

Synopsis:
On the evening of 4-16-1994 Roger Frost was sitting in his living room with his girlfriend. At approximately 2250 hours the victim stood up and walked toward the front living room window. One gunshot was heard and the victim fell to the floor. Witnesses in the area reported seeing two young males, one described as a black male juvenile, the other as a young juvenile or young adult, both running from the area of the front of the house. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Location: Intersection: Arlington St & Wyoming Ave, Las Vegas, NV
Date: February 27, 1994

Synopsis:
At approximately 4:30 p.m., on February 27, 1994, Michael Iverson was walking in the area of Arlington St and Wyoming Ave with several friends when they were approached by another group of teenagers. There was any exchange of insults. Two members of the opposing group pulled handguns and fired at Michael. Michael was struck in the chest. He was transported the University Medical Center-Trauma Unit where he was pronounced dead. The friends were not able to identify any of the suspects.

Victim: Tracy Lee Lawrence, 19 YOA

Location: 1136 Sierra Vista, Las Vegas, NV 89109
Date: December 3, 1993

Synopsis:
At approximately 10:30 p.m., on December 3, 1999, the two suspects entered the apartment where Tracy Lawrence was staying. Both suspects were wearing white masks of some type over their faces. One of the suspects struggled with Tracy. Tracy was able to take a handgun away from the suspect; the other suspect walked up to Tracy and shot him multiple times. The recovered handgun was discovered to have been stolen several days earlier during a carjacking. The suspects then ran out of the apartment. Tracy was transported to UMC-Trauma and underwent surgery. Tracy died, as a result of his wounds, on December 26, 1993.

Date: October 9, 1993

Synopsis:
At approximately 11:50 a.m., on 10/9/1993, Richard Singleton’s girlfriend call 9-1-1 to report him missing and the apartment as being ransacked. A few minutes later she recalled and told the emergency operator that Richard’s car had been located at Walnut & Giest. The girlfriend and Richard’s brother went to the car’s location and found Richards’ car, a two-tone blue, 1981 Chevrolet Caprice, to discover his body inside.

Synopsis:
Dana Mackay, an Elvis Presley impersonator, and Mary Huffman were discovered shot to death in their home on October 30, 1993, by LVMPD patrol officers who were asked to do a welfare check by a mutual friend. The friend had been unable to make contact for several days. Apparently Dana and Mary returned to their home, from shopping, and were confronted by the suspect(s) as they entered the house. It is believed that the victims walked in on a burglary in progress.

Synopsis:
On September 18, 1993, Opal Bessent was discovered deceased in her apartment by her son. Opal was last seen alive at approximately 7:00 a.m. by neighbors. She was seen watering roses outside her front door. Her son entered the apartment at approximately 11:00 a.m. The subsequent investigation determined Opal died from blunt force injury. Investigators believed robbery may have been the motive. There were no witnesses and there appeared to be no forced entry into the apartment.

Location: Shark Club, 75 E. Harmon Ave.
Date: 5/21/1993

Synopsis:
On May 21, 1993, Sara Halsey was murdered during an apparent robbery in the parking lot of the Shark Club. Sara was a 20 year old University of Nevada-Las Vegas student who was outside the night club with a friend when she was accosted by a dark complexion female passenger of a dark colored 1980's Pontiac TransAm or Chevrolet Camero. The suspect asked for a light for a cigarette. When Sara went to light the cigarette the suspect grabbed Sara's purse. While struggling over the purse the suspect shot Sara once in the chest. Sara was transported to the hospital where she died. The suspect was last seen driving West on Harmon towards the strip.

Location: 4100 Block of Broadriver Drive
Date: May 13, 1993

Synopsis: Rosemary Phoenix returned to her home on Broadriver Dr. at approximately 0230 hrs., after getting off work. Her boyfriend arrived at the house some 37 minutes later to discover Rosemary dead on the floor inside the front door. She died as a result of blunt trauma and stab wounds.

Rosemary would normally park her red, Nissan Sentra in her garage then enter her house from inside the garage. Her car was parked on the street not far from her house with some irregularities pertaining to it. The suspect was probably responsible for this situation, denying Rosemary access to the garage or moving her car after her arrival.

Suspect: Hispanic male, 17 -20 yrs, 5' 10"; last seen wearing white head band & black "Raiders" jacket.
Location: Vons' parking lot, 1131 E. Tropicana Ave., Las Vegas, NV
Date: December 30, 1992

Synopsis:
Raymond La Marca and two friends were at the Jack-in-the-Box, Maryland Parkway and Tropicana, where they had an argument with the suspect. The suspect threw a rock at La Marca and friends' vehicle and took off running. The suspect was joined by an older Hispanic male as they ran south on Maryland Parkway. La Marca ran after the two men, where he caught up to them at the Vons grocery store. La Marca and the suspect caused a disturbance inside of the store. The store manager asked La Marca to leave. The suspect and the older man came out and confronted La Marca. The suspect stabbed La Marca once in the chest; the two men then ran Northwest through the parking lot. The suspect has never been identified.

Synopsis:
Harvey Oles and his business partner where working in their warehouse at 513 S. Main St., when they heard noise coming from the alley behind the business. Harvey and his partner went to investigate. According to the business partner, they saw three males with ski masks trying to break into their van. When Harvey went to confront the suspects; one of the suspects pulled a gun and shot Harvey. Harvey was transported to the hospital where he died from multiple gunshot wounds. According to the business partner, the suspects were last seen fleeing East through an empty lot towards First St., then South on First St.

Date: 3-10-1991

Synopsis:
On 3-10-1991 the victim returned home from work at approximately 0100 and observed at least two male suspects breaking into his parked 1991 Chevy pickup truck. Evidence shows there was a struggle at the crime scene, and then the victim was fatally shot one time. The victim fell to the pavement exclaiming he had been shot, and witnesses stated that a white 4-door Hyundai was seen racing away from the crime scene. It was believed that the suspects were attempting to steal the wheels and tires from the victim's parked truck. Witnesses were unable to provide detailed suspect identity. No suspects have ever been identified.
