Chief Administrative Officer James Kilber

James Kilber is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and has more than 30 years of experience as a top executive. He has served in the private sector as chief executive officer, chief operating officer, senior vice president of operations and executive director. Most recently, he served as the chief technology officer for LVMPD. Kilber is the first chief administrative officer for LVMPD and will be overseeing the Law Enforcement Administration Detention and Support Group which includes the Professional Standards Division, Detention Services Division, Business and Technology Division, Internal Oversight and Constitutional Policing Bureau, Labor Relations and will be leading the creation of the Employee Health, Wellness and Safety Bureau.

He has extensive experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors to include LVMPD, US Anesthesia Partners (USAP), The US Oncology Network, McKesson Specialty Health, Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, Desert Radiologists, ORION Foundation, and the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

He co-founded the non-profit, ORION Foundation, which provides financial assistance to cancer patients who cannot afford treatment. In addition, he has previously served as a board member for the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation, LVMPD Health and Welfare Trust, Cox Communications, and Las Vegas Heals. In addition to this experience, he has received several awards including: 2016 Executive of the Year, 2012 Healthcare Headliner of the year, 2012 Par for the Cure Louise M. Nicosia Award for Excellence in Breast Cancer Research, 2011 Top Administrator of the year, 2009 Nevada Childhood Cancer Ambassador of the Year, Health Science Achievement Award, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Diversity Award for Practicing Excellence, Everyday Hero's Award for Community Impact, Clinical Trials Participation Award, and the Hope Award. 

Prior to moving to the Public Sector, he served as Senior Vice President of Operations for USAP Nevada Market which includes 90 anesthesiologists, 30 nurse anesthetists providing coverage to over 40 facilities in Nevada including hospitals and surgical centers.  

James was born in Ipswich, South Dakota, but has spent the last 33 years in Las Vegas, Nevada which he calls home. He and his wife Lori have 4 children and two grandchildren.  He earned his master's degree in Business from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Education from UNLV and an associate degree and Certificate in Radiologic Technology from St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck ND and Presentation College, Aberdeen, SD. 

Over the years, James and his wife Lori have been active in the community as foster parents and adopted two children from the Las Vegas area. They are very involved with their church and sponsor an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico for underprivileged children.  James' priorities include God, Family and Country.
