The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department thrives best when it builds bridges with the community to solve law enforcement problems that improve the quality of life for everyone. That’s why the LVMPD adopted the national program, Rebuilding Every City Around Peace (RECAP). The initiative formed a coalition of partners that include law enforcement, faith-based community leaders and businesses to promote peace and nonviolence.
The goal of RECAP is to create a culture of trust by sharing information and resources within the coalition. RECAP employs proven methods to combat and neutralize the culture of violence. Coalition volunteers with roots in the community help with outreach, organization of pro-active rallies, welfare checks, and responses to acts of violence in the community, as well as a host of other efforts. It strives to repair the relationships between community and law enforcement and make neighborhoods strong and crime free.
