Always be mindful of your belongings. Thieves look for opportunities in busy places with distractions such as a crowds, gaming areas or retail areas.
Be aware of your surroundings when using your cell phone in public; don't give thieves the chance to run up and steal your phone right out of your hand!
Don't wear expensive jewelry as you're walking out and about. Or keep it at home.
Carry shoulder bags or other hand-bags under your arm, not by the handle. Do not hang your purse over the back of a chair. Men should carry their wallets in their front pocket.
Know where you’re going. Get a map, use an app, plan your route ahead time.
Do not accept or drink beverages from a street vendor. Many of these vendors are not legally licensed/permitted to handle food or drink for public consumption.
Ignore panhandlers.
You’re not obligated to give, be charged or donate money to the following: street characters/performers, vendors, water distributors, CD music vendors or club promoter/distributors. Be aware that many of these individuals are not legally permitted, licensed, screened or certified to conduct business. Alcohol & Partying Can Create Risky Situations
Do not accept any beverage from someone you just met, with the exception of bartenders and wait staff.
Only go out with friends you know and trust, return with the same friends and do not leave your friends behind. Be careful who you invite to your room.
Avoid giving out your hotel room number to anyone you meet in the bar.
Do not leave your drink unattended; if you can’t take your drink with you then get a new one. Don’t drink anything that has an unusual taste or appearance.
If you feel dizzy, disoriented or physically uncomfortable, notify a friend or an employee to call for medical assistance.
