He began his career with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) as a police officer and promoted through the ranks. He was appointed undersheriff in November 2014. As second in command, he oversees daily police operations, investigations and support, administration, as well as operations of the Clark County Detention Center. LVMPD has approximately 5,800 employees and a combined annual budget of one billion dollars.

Kevin has strong leadership skills in intelligence led policing and homeland security. In July 2018, Kevin led LVMPD into the future by launching the Digital Investigations Bureau. This bureau’s goal is to deliver video and computer evidence in real-time to investigators.

Kevin has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Leadership in Counter-Terrorism program and the National Executive Institute, and a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

Kevin serves as Vice President of the Leadership in Counter-Terrorism Alumni Association, President of the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association, and as an advocate for Hope for Prisoners, one of the single most effective re-entry programs in our country.
