US_Kevin_McMahill_websm.jpgUndersheriff Kevin McMahill has been policing for 25 years.  As the second-in-command of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, he currently oversees the day-to-day police operations.

Kevin has extensive experience in Narcotics, Internal Affairs, Academy Staff and Patrol.  He possesses a strong background in Homeland Security.  Kevin was an early leader for LVMPD’s saturation teams, focusing on the deployment of officers using actionable intelligence to prevent and respond to crime.  Kevin was also instrumental in the creation of the Intelligence Led Policing Bureau.  He continues to push the information-sharing strategies to help LVMPD focus its resources.

While directing patrol operations, Kevin expanded the Safe Village Initiative—a neighborhood policing program, which received the Webber-Seavey Award. Under his leadership, faith-based partnerships have spread throughout the community.

Kevin has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia Southern University.  Kevin attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government—the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program, and is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Leadership in Counter-Terrorism (LinCT) Program.
