Explorers
The LVMPD Law Enforcement Explorer Program is a volunteer program that introduces young adults to careers in law enforcement. Explorers gain hands-on experience in specialized areas including Crime Scene Investigation, Corrections, Dispatch, and Police operations. In addition to technical training, the program helps develop leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and personal fitness.
The program is open to young adults ages 16 to 20 and is supported by LVMPD officers and civilian staff. Explorers receive training similar to that of sworn and civilian personnel through weekly meetings and practical exercises. They also have opportunities to observe law enforcement operations through ride-alongs and other supervised activities.
