What Dispatch Explorers Do

MetroComm, LVMPD’s dispatch center, receives more than 2 million phone calls and dispatches officers to nearly 450,000 events each year.

Dispatch Explorers use state-of-the-art simulators to learn how to handle critical 9-1-1 calls and dispatch officers using the Computer-Aided Dispatch system.

Dispatch Explorers also gain first-hand experience by observing dispatchers and listening to live 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 calls, as well as police radio traffic. They participate in training scenarios and practice dispatching in simulated environments.
