As a Police Explorer, young adults learn exactly what it takes to be a police officer. Explorers are taught basic police procedures that will give them the knowledge on how to handle emergency calls for service safely and effectively. Explorers meet weekly at their assigned area command.

Police Explorers see policing in action as they ride along with patrol officers during their 10-hour shifts. During ride-alongs, Explorers see what it's like to be a police officer on the streets of Las Vegas as they see how and what police officers do on a daily basis.

Police Explorers learn:

  • Handcuffing, pat downs and searches
  • Misdemeanor traffic stops
  • Radio Procedures
  • Person stops
  • Arrest Procedures
  • Building searches
  • Responding to 911 calls
