Police Explorers

As a Police Explorer, young adults learn what it takes to become a police officer. Explorers are taught basic procedures and gain hands-on experience responding to calls for service.

Explorers meet weekly and are assigned to an area command, where they build skills and learn how officers operate in real-world situations.

Police Explorers learn:

Handcuffing, pat downs and searches
Misdemeanor traffic stops
Radio procedures
Person stops
Arrest procedures
Building searches
Responding to 911 calls

Explorers gain experience that can lead to a variety of law enforcement and civilian careers, including:
