Theft Crimes Bureau
What is the Theft Crimes Bureau?
The Theft Crimes Bureau investigates felony-level theft offenses and oversees the issuance of Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits. The bureau includes the Commercial Robbery unit, the VIPER Auto Theft Task Force, the Financial Crimes unit, Organized Retail Crime (ORC), the CCW & Gun Dispositions unit, and LVMPD Crimestoppers liaison unit.
What Does Each Unit Do?
Commercial Robbery Unit
This unit investigates:
- Bank robberies
- Commercial robberies
- Robbery series
- Takeover-style robberies
- Casino robberies
- Kidnappings involving extortion
Financial Crimes Unit
This unit investigates fraud, embezzlement, credit card crimes, forgery, identity theft, and other financial-related offenses.Organized Retail Crime Unit
This unit investigates the distribution and resale of stolen merchandise. Detectives work with retail partners to identify crime trends and target repeat offenders.
VIPER Auto Theft Task Force
A multi-jurisdictional task force that investigates organized auto theft for profit and oversees the bait vehicle and motorcycle program.Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) and Gun Dispositions Unit
Responsible for investigating and issuing Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permits, including renewals, and administering the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (HR 218).Crime Stoppers Program
Works with Crime Stoppers of Southern Nevada to receive tips and distribute them to the appropriate bureau, section, or detail for investigation.Contact
